Girl’s Name

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I know, it’s been quite a while since I’ve written a post, but it’s because uploading tracks is a little bit more of a pain now. Also, my senior year of HS is ending in less than 10 days so I’ve been a bit busy this month. Turns out you kinda have to do your homework to pass.

Lindsay? Leslie? Larry?

I had many options for this post, as I’ve been getting into a lot of good bands lately, but I decided to just go with what I’m listening to right now. The band is called Laura. Epic, I know. I wrote a whole big review on this and then I decided to scrap it because it was all rubbish. I’ll put it simply.

Laura is from Australia. Laura contains no band member who is actually named Laura (In fact, no girls at all their cellist is a girl - my bad.) . Laura is an instrumental/post-rock band that sometimes features a synthy keyboard. Laura can sound a little bit like EitS at times, but still makes their own original sound. Laura has vocals every once and a while as well. Laura is good, you should listen to them.

I’ve been listening to the album for the first time while reviewing this and it’s just getting better and better as I go along, so here’s the deal. If I recieve one comment from someone other than a contributor, you get the whole album. These two tracks just aren’t enough because the whole album is just outstanding. I’ll probably keep up with this trend.

MP3s Down.

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Some idiot was hitting my mp3 directory hard so my host caught on and had me take it down. I have an alternate mean of hosting my files, but all of my past posts are going to have broken links.

Jon and Derek and Kris all have alternate hosting options so all their posts should be fine.

Just a heads up, and file any requests for songs to be rehosted here.

que?

First off I’d like to thank all of you who commented on my post, brings me to tears that some one might actually like my sprawls and ramblings of music… but as the great George Clooney said: “well ramblers, lets get rambling”

I’d like to dispense to you yet another tripple shot of goodies, starting with that “zed” word! 28 Weeks Later is comming out soon, which is probably not that important if you don’t have the taste for a good zombie movie. Point being 28 Days Later has an amazing soundtrack (something which did not even sink in on the first run through the flick) of which the grocery store scenes song is one of my favorites. A UK located band called “Grandaddy” (who you might know also from the honda hybrid commercials) of which me and a few friends are enjoying in this happy warm frisbee flinging season.

Speaking of which, I was im’ed a link to a particular music video from a band called “The Go! Team” - Junior Kickstart:

To keep this short and simple (and to let me get back to finishing up this semester with passing grades) I’d just like to say that Alien Ant Farm has on their website that their new CD will be out July 18th. For all of you who don’t remember, they were the ones who did the Michael Jackson cover of “Smooth Criminal” and destined to be big untill that bus crash on tour in germany. So I’ll Throw in “Calico” to jog your memory of their sound. Oh and good luck to anyone else who is fighting the biological war with tree pollen.
