All India Radio

It’s only been a couple days since my last post. Dunno where you’ve been. Found this article sitting from a couple weeks ago, might as well finish this before doing a new one.

All India Radio

Today I’ve got a couple tracks off of ‘Echo Other‘, the latest addition to my sparse collection of All India Radio albums. This is the warm, relaxing kind of music you might listen to whilst lying on the beach on a cool evening in the middle of Spring; if only you hadn’t lost your sandals in a bet with Jon. That’s right Jon, the sandals.
Actually I lied about the sandals, they’re not real. All India Radio is real though. I only lie to you about secret codes and sandals. The Melbourne, Australia based trio has been spreading some fine-tuned down-tempo soundscapes since 1999.

Echo Other‘ has quite a cinematic feel to it, a bit post-rockish as well I suppose. Anyways, you might as well check it out.

The rather trippy video for All India Radio - Four Three (off Echo Other)

All India Radio (abbreviated as AIR), officially known as Akashvani (Devanagari: आकाशवाणी, ākāshavānī) (Urdu: اکاشوانی), is the radio broadcaster of India and a division of Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India), an autonomous corporation of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Established in 1936, [1], today, it is the sister service of Prasar Bharati’s Doordarshan, the national television broadcaster.

The word Akashavani was coined by Professor Dr. M.V. Gopalaswamy for his radio station in Mysore during 1936.

All India Radio is one of the largest radio networks in the world. The headquarters is at the Akashwani Bhavan, New Delhi. Akashwani Bhavan houses the drama section, the FM section and the National service. The Doordarshan Kendra (Delhi) is also located on the 6th floor of Akashvani Bhavan.
