Continuing on the journey in my Love is in the Aire series, I’ve got another cute electronic track to share with you.
It started in what I refer to as the Summer of Olives, which is the summer of 2006. I call it this for a number of reasons. One, I fell in love with the color green and olives are green. Also, I fell in love with a girl, and olives grow in Europe and Europe is romantic… Alright, so the second part is a stretch, but it makes sense to me. In the Summer of Olives, I was pretty obsessed with the mixes of a certain DJ GT & Project C, resident DJs over at their website, Generation Trance. I get obsessed with their mixes on and off, it’s good stuff. The track was in several mixes of promo-mix trance DJs so I heard plenty of it. That’s enough background info for now.
So then, as I was falling in love, I had to attach myself to a song and this one sounded good so I took it under my wing. This song has a certain quality about it that’s usually pretty rare in a Vocal Trance song. It seems really… heavy. The vocalist does a great job of making sure you know what she feels like, and I felt like it too. It was the stupid teenage hormones, I know, but ignorance is bliss, right? This one goes out to H.C. You know who you are.

I realized today that when I have a crush for an extended period of time, I tend to get some theme song going - which tends to also be some nice sounding electronic song with cute little love lyrics. I decided since these musics bring me fond memories and they are generally good songs (Alright… not all the time, looking back) that I’d start a little series of them.

This first one I decided to pick this Narcotic Thrust track. I think it’s probably the best one I’ve had so I felt it deserved to take first spot. Definitely not the best crush, but definitely the best song. This one is back from the summer of 2005. Oh, the song; The first time I heard this song I was smitten - maybe in more of a way than the girl did it. Truly, I can say this is one of my favorite songs of all time. Not much length at all, clocking in at only 3:15, it’s short and to the point so you can listen to a lot of times in a short period of time - which I did. It has a really epic quality to it for being a house track, and it really needs to have won some award or something. They used to play it on the radio for a bit, but it never got the recognition it deserved.
I don’t know if the song will have the same effect on you as it did on me, and still does, but I thought I’d share this little gem with the world. There are remixes, but none compare to the original. This one goes out to you, T.F.
And here’s the video, complete with scantly-clad dancers driving fast foreign cars.

It’s only been a couple days since my last post. Dunno where you’ve been. Found this article sitting from a couple weeks ago, might as well finish this before doing a new one.

Today I’ve got a couple tracks off of ‘Echo Other‘, the latest addition to my sparse collection of All India Radio albums. This is the warm, relaxing kind of music you might listen to whilst lying on the beach on a cool evening in the middle of Spring; if only you hadn’t lost your sandals in a bet with Jon. That’s right Jon, the sandals.
Actually I lied about the sandals, they’re not real. All India Radio is real though. I only lie to you about secret codes and sandals. The Melbourne, Australia based trio has been spreading some fine-tuned down-tempo soundscapes since 1999.
‘Echo Other‘ has quite a cinematic feel to it, a bit post-rockish as well I suppose. Anyways, you might as well check it out.
The rather trippy video for All India Radio - Four Three (off Echo Other)
